Why Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the name given to the use of essential oils, extracted from plants, for therapeutic purposes. Aromatherapy is a relatively modern term but its roots lie far in the past. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all used aromatics in their everyday lives. Essential oils are unique, natural, aromatic chemicals found in many types of plant material. An essential oil is the ‘essence’ of the plant and contains the concentrated power of its life source.
Kathy Phillips who spent seven years at VOGUE as Health and Beauty Director and is now the International Beauty Director for Condé Nast Asia created This Works as an aromatherapy range as she believes that essential oils can benefit one’s health and well-being by working on physical as well as emotional levels. On a physical level essential oils can penetrate into the bloodstream and have many positive benefits, such as increasing blood circulation and promoting skin cell renewal. If inhaled they work very well within the respiratory system, helping clear infections and allergies. On an emotive level, the aromas of essential oils can trigger memories and emotions- the sense of smell is one of the most primitive of our senses and is linked to some of the deepest parts of the brain.
Did you know?
60% of what we put on our skin goes directly into our bloodstream - this means that the benefits of essential oils can be carried quickly and safely to all areas of the body.
